Objectives:

  • To understand the importance of assessing the level of functional dependency in the elderly person living with diabetes
  • To discuss the individualization of glycemic targets in the elderly person living with diabetes
  • To review antihyperglycemic therapy in the elderly person living with diabetes
  • To understand the importance of avoiding hypoglycemia in the elderly person living with diabetes

Aileen brings many years of experience in diabetes management, research and education. She was on the Executive committee of the 2013 Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Diabetes in Canada and is co-author of the chapter on “Diabetes in the Elderly”.
